The Model United Nations program is a fun and rigorous program that allows scholars to explore the same topics debated by the nations of the world.  Galapagos scholars develop skills such as research, debate, negotiation and public speaking as they advocate for topics related to nuclear disarmament, human rights and environmental standards.

Scholars will participate in three off-site UN conferences and two remote conferences. In these conferences, they will represent different countries and advocate for the policy position that their country would likely take.

The team meets on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 4 pm until 5:10 pm, beginning September 30 at the UA.  (The off-site conferences will be announced soon and do require an additional payment.)

After School Snack is provided.

FIRST Lego is a robotics team that prepares young people for the future. This Lego team focuses on the fundamentals of engineering as scholars explore real world problems, learn to design and code and create unique solutions made with Lego bricks.

Scholars will have fun as they learn about singing in a group. This class is open to 1st-3rd grade scholars.  It is all about singing and finding your voice.  This course runs on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:10 pm.

Ai-yah! Tae kwon do offers an introduction to martial arts skills. Scholars will practice focus, coordination. discipline and confidence as they work towards earning their yellow belt.

Practices will be held at the UA on Tuesdays 4:10pm -5:15pm. Scholars will have an option to take the Bussie Shuttle after practiceto be picked up at the LA. The shuttle will leave the UA at 5:15 pm and willarrive at the LA at 5:40-5:45 pm. This will be drop off service only. Scholarswill not be supervised after drop off and the LA will not be open for scholarsto enter. Parents are fully responsible for their scholar after drop off.

Galapagos believes that it is important to address a variety of needs when preparing a scholar to begin and succeed on their road to college. Nutrition and access to consistent, healthy foods is crucial in the development and health of all children.  That is why Galapagos takes food security issues within the school community as well as the community at large extremely seriously.   While our main purpose is to educate, we are working hard to expand our food programming options to be as responsive as possible. The pantry is open from 1:30pm until 3:30pm. Open to all Galapagos families and all residents of Rockford. We are located at 2605 School St, Rockford, IL 61101 Lower Academy.

The GRCS boys' basketball team is back for the 2024-25 season.  Scholars will participate in weekly practices to hone their playing skills before we start league play.  The first practices will be Mondays and Thursday.  Practices will run from 4:00-5:15pm at the UA.
